I will be streaming starting right before the launch today at 2:30pm PST, but the expansion launch and Twitch Drops event won’t officially begin until 3pm. I figure we can do a watch-through together of my latest Battle Pets Compendium video while we wait! Hope to see you there!
After an extraordinarily-long research, footage acquisition, and editing time, my ROBUST World of Warcraft: Dragonflight Battle Pets Compendium video is finally up!
This was a real labor of love, y’all. When I saw that there were nearly a HUNDRED new pets coming in Dragonflight, I was hesitant to dive in and make a preview video for them – how would I encompass THAT MANY battle pets in ONE video?!? But I decided to forge ahead anyways, and I’m so glad I did!
Of course the process was rife with stumbling blocks (especially when my Premiere timeline refused to play back about a third way through because of ALL video layers and added effects!), my sleep schedule became completely whacky, and – according to my husband – I’ve gotten a little “weird”, but now that it’s done I feel so accomplished (and ready for some sleep, lol)! I learned so much new tech stuff having to do with video editing, troubleshooting older PCs 🤣, and, well, I learned that I still have what it takes to turn a spark of creativity into an actual real-life “product”.
Yes, I’m patting on my own proverbial back, because I’m proud…whether 2 people or 2,000 people watch this, I will still feel just as proud as I do right now, as this thing is freshly done and released.
I’d love it if you’d click the video above and go leave a like and maybe even a comment on the video! Your interactions help “the almighty algorithm” clue-in interested folks to my videos, and I’m hoping my fellow World of Warcraft battle pet fans glean something useful from this vid. And heck, maybe we can lure a few more unsuspecting players into pet collecting in WoW!
We’re less than A WEEK away from the launch of World of Warcraft’s latest expansion, DRAGONFLIGHT, and I’m a busy-little-bee getting everything together. What have I been busy with? Well, it’s no secret that I’ve been working on a battle pet video highlighting all the new pets coming with DRAGONFLIGHT, and with nearly 100 new pets coming, I have to admit I maybe have bitten off a little more than I can chew!
My current timeline progress for the battle pet video
My circa 2016 PC is having a helluva time dealing with all these imported files, graphic layers, and effects, and it was touch-and-go there as to whether or not I’d be able to move forward with it. But after learning how to work with proxy files and futzing with some preferences, everything’s going much more smoothly. I’m now in the final 9 minutes of what appears to be a roughly 29 minute video! I’m really hoping to be able to get it out by this Friday or Saturday at the latest. Keep your fingers crossed that my poor PC lives through the experience (and of course I’ll announce once the video is live, but go ahead and sub to me on YouTube and ring the bell and stuff to get notified automagically!)
I’ve been so caught up in this project that I haven’t even finished doing everything I want with the pre-patch event yet! Namely, getting some more alts to level 60, outfitting some of my priority alts with some fresh new 252 gear, and collecting all the armor class transmogs. Also, with all the hype surrounding the recent RNG buff given to some Pandaria & WoD world boss mounts, the desire to go roll a decent amount of my alts through those weekly drop chances is high high high! Let’s hope my RNG luck is just as high, once I get around to it! At the very minimum, I need to go and spend all the Honor and Valor I have saved up on my main so that stuff doesn’t just vanish on me next Monday!
Lastly, an important update to my previous post about Twitch Drops: While I will be streaming at launch and will have the Twitch Drops enabled for the Feldrake mount from Nov 28th through Nov 30th (my stream schedule, anyways), looks like I am not on the list of eligible streamers Blizzard has supplied for the Ichabod battle pet Twitch Drop, which also starts Nov 28th. I’m a little sad, because being involved in anything battle pet-related is always a huge deal for me, but I will still happily support some of my friends who made the list of eligible streamers. I’ll likely toss my gift subs over to DragonsAfterDark, who is someone who does just a TON of work for the battle pet community!
That single tear…
That’s all I have to update for now. Have you had any luck with the new mount drops? Didja get all your stuff from the pre-patch festivities yet? Drop a comment and let me know! In the meantime, I’ve gotta dig back into this editing project like, for real, for real!
Hey everyone! How y’all doin’? Thought I’d dust off this blog since, well, Twitter is near imminent implosion, but more importantly, there’s LOTS of cool stuff happening in World of Warcraft coming up Very Soon™.
As Shadowlands nears its end, my guild is only raiding one night a week, and that’s to blow through 10 or so mythic bosses from the various Fated raids in order to collect some mythic upgrade tokens. This weird intermediate time where we have new talents and yet legendaries and covenant powers are still around has yielded some fun results for my particular spec, Arms Warrior. We’re in that bizarre position where – combined with our available talents – our Venthyr covenant ability Condemn has achieved HUGE VALUE in basically all content. But it’s going away once Dragonflight launches, so there’s no need for Blizz to try to balance it. We’re not as ridiculous as, say, warlocks were in Season 4, but we’re sort of a meme-worthy Condemn-spam class, and I’m seeing some funny big numbers. Not usual for little old me!
The pre-patch lands FOR REAL next Tuesday (Nov 15th), when not only will we start seeing the Primal Invasions happening around Azeroth, yielding some gear upgrades for alts, new transmog, and – of course – a new PET – (and can I just break here and say, with that pet, I’ll achieve 1500 unique battle pets in the game?!? Aaaaaaah! So excited!!) – but we’ll also get access to the new race and class – Dracthyr Evokers! I have a name reserved already for my Evoker alt. I’m going to be terrible at playing “Count Dracthula”, but at least I’ll be able to get even further benefit from hitting big renown numbers for Venthyr 🙂
With the launch of this 2nd and final phase of the Dragonflight pre-patch, WoW is having a special Twitch Drops promotion where interested players can watch some hours of their favorite WoW streamers (provided they have Twitch Drops enabled!) to unlock some seriously cool in-game rewards.
First up, starting next week you’ll be able to unlock the Dragon Kite battle pet (originally from the TCG) by watching 4 hours of your favorite WoW streamer between Tuesday November 15th at 3:00pm PST through Friday November 18th at 11:59pm PST.
And then once the Dragonflight expansion officially launches on Monday, November 28th, you’ll be able to unlock the AMAZING Feldrake mount (also a rare TCG prize) for watching an eligible streamer between Monday November 28th at 3:00pm PST through Thursday December 1st at 11:59pm PST.
November 28th also launches the beginning of their “Support a Streamer” promotion on Twitch where, if you gift 2 subscriptions to an eligible WoW streamer during the time between Monday November 28th at 3:00pm PST and Monday December 12th by 11:59pm PST, you’ll unlock access to the brand new Ichabod battle pet shown below! For this promotion, “eligible streamer” means someone who’s either an Affiliate or Partner on Twitch (meaning they can accept subscriptions), and that they’re also streaming World of Warcraft while the Twitch Drops period is in effect.
The final Twitch Drop is a toy called the Perpetual Purple Firework – which was also a TCG item, I guess? This toy shoots a firework into the air that purportedly bursts into a thousand purple stars. I’m definitely going to be counting them! This reward is unlocked by watching at least two hours of an eligible WoW stream between Tuesday, December 13th at 3:00pm PST (also the beginning of Season 1 of Dragonflight!!) and Wednesday, December 28th by 11:59pm PST.
Of course, I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that I have stepped my toes back into streaming on Twitch, and I will definitely be taking part in the Twitch Drops promotion (they kept my Affiliate status active even after nearly 3 years of crickets HAHAHAHA)! For next week’s festivities, here’s my schedule:
Be sure to follow me at twitch.tv/wonderwez and turn on notifications to be reminded when I’m live those dates! Times for the Feldrake should be similar (starting around 3:00pm PST on launch day, with 8:00am PST starts the following days), and I’ll be sure to post those final schedules on my Discord and Twitter!
IMPORTANT: To receive these in-game goodies, you must have your Battle.net linked with your Twitch account. You can do that by starting at https://account.battle.net/connections, and then following the instructions to sign-in and link your Twitch account to Battle.net.
Outside of all that excitement, I’ve been working on putting together a YouTube video previewing all the new (known) battle pets coming to Dragonflight. It’s been quite an endeavor, and I’ve already probably put in A LOT of hours researching online and in the Beta, going through WoW.tools build details, running collection theories by other pet enthusiasts, and gathering footage. I’m finalizing my script by the end of this week (hopefully) and hope to record the voiceover and assemble the video for upload just before Dragonflight launches.
For those of you who took the time to come to my blog and read all this, here’s a special preview of the script, so far!
Thanks so much for reading – what are YOU excited about right now? If you’re into WoW, what class are you going to be maining in Dragonflight, and what are some of your early-expansion goals? If you’re not into WoW, what games have you been playing? Take care, y’all!
